What is Kodomo Café？​​​​​​​​​

​Kodomo Cafe is a safe and welcoming space where children can play, study, enjoy nutritious snacks and meals, and receive care and counseling from dedicated staff and volunteers. The cafe's mission is to share the hope of Jesus Christ with children who have exprienced poverty, abuse, or exposure to alcohol and drug-ralated onvironments. In addition to supporting children,
​Kodomo Cafe also provides food and resources to single-parent families in need.  Currently, the cafe serves approximately 40 children ranging from first to ninth grade and operates fhree days a week.​​

​Our History​​​​​​

​Okinawa has one of the highest child poverty rates in Japan-29.9%, nearly double the national aberage-with one in three children living in poverty. In 2014, the Okinawa Times published a feature on the frowing number of children who rely on school for their only daily meal. Motivated by this reality and a deep commmitment to community outreach, Kodomo Cafe was wstablished in one of the most underserved neighborhoods of Okinawa.​​

​With only three staff members and a limited budget,Kodomo Cafe continues to make a meanjingful impact.

​Looking ahead, the cafe aims to expand its reach by:

​・Increasing the number of days it is open
​・Welcome more children
​・Addressing criticalbuilding repair needs​​
