Our Story

Thank you for your interest in SKY MOUNTAIN Creative Dance Kids.

This school began with a simple idea from Mimi, who moved to Hokkaido from Tokyo at the age of 11:

“Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a dance class created through children’s own creativity and imagination?”

With the support of our community, that dream has now become a reality.

The foundation of each performance begins with Mimi’s artistic vision—from music selection and costumes to choreography.

Within the classes, however, the children themselves become the creators.

Together, they will develop original artistic works that have never existed before, expressing their unique ideas, emotions, and creativity.

Having grown up in Tokyo and experienced many dance lessons and stage performances, Mimi hopes to share her experiences while creating a place where children can smile, feel inspired, and grow together.

Why the Name “SKY MOUNTAIN”?

One day, while driving through Hokkaido on a skateboarding trip, Mimi and Hana were discussing possible names for their dance team.

Looking out at the beautiful scenery, they saw only the sky and mountains.

They thought:

“What if we could keep climbing higher together, little by little, like reaching the top of a mountain beneath the endless sky?”

And so, SKY MOUNTAIN was born.

Centered around Hip-Hop, which is their specialty, the program also incorporates various styles and experiences depending on the project and performance.

Rather than focusing on one dance genre, we encourage children’s natural creativity, curiosity, and self-expression.

Our goal is to create meaningful experiences, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories while supporting each child’s personal growth.

We believe:

“Dance has the power to make both yourself and those around you happy.”

SKY MOUNTAIN Creative Dance Kids aims to be a place where children learn through passion, harmony, respect, teamwork, and creativity while discovering and developing their unique strengths.
